This is an adventure story bursting of light and love. It’s exuberant and at times untidy, like the character it keeps. Expect wonderful characterisations where great care has been taken to ensure authentic voices. Frovin leaps off the page, twins Boris and Ferdy are naughty, and readers will fall in love with the pensive protagonist, Marta.
Low fantasy, the story is set on the Isle of Spheres in medieval Britain and brings together real and mythical creatures on a quest that will have world-altering results. It is suitable for adults and teens.
Meet the characters
Ikoseer
The powerful Sage, Ikoseer, is instrumental in bringing all the characters together. Despite the dangers, she knows what must be done to save the Isle of Spheres.
Marta
Marta, the protagonist, is taken into a new and strange world of magic. She must survive the challenges of this world and help save the Isle of Spheres.
Boris & Ferdy
Fraternal twin dwarves, Boris and Ferdy, live with their parents in Banters Den near the border of the World of Man. They join in the quest when a knight charges past them on a huge black steed and curiosity gets the better of them.
Frovin
Frovin the badger is an animal helper of Ikoseer the Sage. He has a carefree life, living in a sett beneath the Golden Oaks in Greenwood Forest, until accidentally stepped on and woken by a wayward dwarf.
Volgor
Volgor is a scrawny goblin-like creature. His family fish along the Bleak River in the land of Asilodor. He is captured by the enemy to serve Onysius in Jimpiragh Castle. He escapes and finds something that will change his life forever.
Attricus
Attricus the soothsayer is under duress in an enemy castle. When his crystal ball reveals too much, he knows he must escape and return to Elodom Monastery.
